Penny the Bulldog

Penny’s dad was told that bulldogs are the only breed who don’t strive to make their humans happy.

Based on her total disinterest in doing what was asked of her, I could see some truth in that.  Despite this, of course, she is his pride and joy.

We were lucky to get an autumnal setting that is incredibly rare in the perpetually warm Los Angeles.  And Penny couldn’t have been happier chasing after her ball in the cool weather!

Penny is hilarity. She’s either super happy or crazy stubborn.

Shelter Cats Musie & Romeow

Musie and Romeow couldn’t be more different.

Romeow (besides having the best name in the biz) is shy and sweet, while Musie is Queen of the Castle and expects to be respected as such.

As usual, the Santa Monica Animal Shelter has a pet for all tastes.  So when looking for a new fuzzball, don’t forget your local shelter!

Maggie the Puppy!

Maggie is the hammiest puppy I’ve ever met.

Most dogs are a little nervous when I pull out my huge camera and lens.  Before we get started, I let them come sniff it and I push the shutter a couple of times so they get used to the clicking noise.

But as soon as she saw the camera, Maggie immediately got into posing position.  Her favorite was to lounge on a piece of furniture with her cute little paws flopping over the side.  I told her dad she could make him millions with that pose!  (Or at least start buying her own freeze-dried liver treats.)

It’s pretty rare to find a dog who LOVES the camera. My job would be easy if they were all like that!

Great Dogs, Big & Small!

The new year is going swimmingly over at the Santa Monica Animal Shelter.  Everyone is optimistic about finding great homes for lots and lots of animals all year long.

This week, a handful of new winners have come through!  As I’ve said repeatedly before, every shelter has dogs of many sizes, ages, looks and temperaments.  Lots of people who walk in looking for a dog have a difficult time deciding which dog they want because there are so many great ones to choose from!  I’m not even looking for a dog and I almost walk home with a new one every week…

Mr. Peepers & Tina Turner

Hey, the other day I got to do a big photo shoot with Tina Turner!

Well, Tina Turner the cat.  And her brother, Mr. Peepers.  They’re sometimes collectively known as T-Pot and P-Pot (among a million other nicknames their humans have bestowed upon them).

Peepers was the initially shy, but ultimately outgoing fella who happily gave me a tour of his entire apartment.  And Tina was the sassy lady who was certainly not going to parade around like a fool and who remained distinguished while sitting on one of her many favorite spots.

I think they make the perfect team.
