Keko is an amazingly awesome shih tzu who has been at the Santa Monica Animal Shelter…nearly two months now!
His problem is that when people walk by his cage, he barks…a lot. He doesn’t come off as incredibly friendly. But when we bring him out to the play yard, he’s playful and affectionate! Unfortunately, Keko doesn’t understand human psychology and first impressions.
So this is just a reminder that when you’re looking for a dog at the shelter, look past that first impression. If a dog catches your eye, but seems too crazy or too shy at first glance, ask a shelter staff member if you can play with him out in the yard or take him for a walk. They’re often quite different out in the world!
